Caritas Carney Hospital is a 186-bed community teaching hospital affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine and New England Medical Center. The hospital offers a comprehensive and innovative three-year internal medicine residency, as well as a one-year transitional and preliminary medicine internships.
Our educational programs are enhanced by a dedicated on-site faculty with a strong commitment to medical education and by our associations with New England Medical Center and Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Faculty from both institutions contribute regularly to Caritas Carney teaching conferences and grand rounds. Medical students from TUSM rotate on Caritas Carney medical wards and critical care units.

Ancillary/Support Services
Caritas Carney Hospital provides a full range of diagnostic technologies, which include computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear imaging, ultrasound, angiography and mammography. Other support services, such as phlebotomy and I.V. nursing, are available seven days a week. House officers have exclusive responsibility for writing orders.
Vacation Days
All interns receive three weeks of vacation annually. Personal days may be granted at the discretion of the Director.
Medical Insurance
Interns and their families have a choice of several health insurance plans.
Dental Insurance
Interns and their families are eligible for enrollment in the hospital's dental insurance plan.
Malpractice Insurance
The hospital provides comprehensive liability insurance for all interns.
Laundry
The hospital provides white coats, scrub suits and laundry services for these items.
Housing
Numerous attractive rental units are available in Boston and in the surrounding suburban communities. Some units are within walking distance of the hospital.
Meals
The hospital provides meals for all residents during on-call nights and weekends.
Medical Library
The Francis Colpoys Library, located on the second floor of the hospital, subscribes to an extensive array of medical journals. The library provides free duplication, as well as computerized journal article retrieval services. Library services are available 24 hours a day. A full-time librarian offers individual computer training.
