Caritas Carney Hospital Undergoes Successful Re-Accreditation

The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), which sets standards for health care quality in America and around the world and accredits organizations meeting those standards, recently found that Caritas Carney Hospital is in full compliance with all patient care, patient safety and environment of care standards.

"That we are providing truly remarkable health care to our patients is underscored by the JCAHO accreditation," said Joyce A. Murphy, Caritas Carney Hospital president. "The surveyors found not a single patient care criticism, not one patient safety goal violation, not one environment of care problem. The physician surveyor remarked that he would feel very safe and well cared for if he became a patient here. His impression is an incredible comment on our staff's spirit and utmost commitment to patient care."

Joint Commission surveyors commented specifically, according to Murphy, on the pride and dedication they witnessed throughout the hospital to high quality compassionate care, extraordinary enthusiasm of nurses, physicians and support staff, confidence with which the staff communicated about their responsibilities and impressive team spirit.

Murphy praised the hospital staff's commitment to excellent and safe patient care, and their determination to maintain exceedingly high standards day in and day out.

Caritas Carney Hospital is a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine and a member of Caritas Christi Health Care, the second largest health care system in New England.
