Psychiatrists Joining Caritas Carney Hospital Will Manage Services At Two Caritas Christi Hospitals
Alejandro Y. Mendoza, MD, has been appointed director of the department of psychiatry at Caritas Carney Hospital, and Howard H. Chang, MD, has been appointed associate director.
Dr. Mendoza also is chairman of the department of psychiatry at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center and vice president of its medical staff. Dr. Chang is vice chairman of Caritas Good Samaritan’s department of psychiatry. Together they will oversee behavioral health services at both hospitals for adolescent, adult, older adult, geriatric, detox and dual diagnosis psychiatric patients.
Dr. Mendoza’s (left) training and clinical interest is in medical, surgical and intensive care neuropsychiatric consultation. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and board-certified in geriatric psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. A Harvard Medical School instructor, he received his medical degree from LaSalle University/Emilio Aguinaldo College of Medicine in the Philippines and performed his psychiatric residency and fellowship at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Chang (right) is board-certified in general and forensic psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. He received his medical degree from National Taiwan University Medical School and a master’s in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He was chief resident at Massachusetts Mental Health Center and completed his psychiatry and pharmacology fellowship in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Caritas Carney Hospital is a teaching affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine and a member of Caritas Christi Health Care, the second largest health care system in New England.
